announces recruitment for Masterclass

We are currently accepting application for school year 2019/2020. Among our instructors are world class musicians like: Imogen Cooper, Andrej Bielow, Maria Kliegel, Valentin Erben and Joseph Swensen. If you wish to Institute of Musical Excellence and develop your talent by experienced and knowledgeable musical masters as they steer you under their watchful eyes, you have come to the right place. The Institute has a limited number of places, which results in an personalized curriculum and a close student/teacher experience. The recruitment process is conducted in accordance with specific guidelines, and  students are selected by our professional Teachers committee.

Required documents

1. Completed Application Form.
2. Copy of an official document indicating the date of birth.
3. Copy of an identity document within the meaning of Polish law (i.e. identity card or passport).
4. A photocopy of documents certifying that the candidate is attending other music studies simultaneously with the course.
5. Consent to the use of Candidate’s image.
6. An audio-video recording recorded on the CD-ROM or any other tangible medium carrier stamped by the Candidate or named the direct website address which the Candidate’s audio-video recording has been published subject to anonymous rules.
7. Proof of payment of the recruitment fee.

RECRUITMENT 2019/2020

1. Calendar of the Recruitment Process:
1.1. Deadline for submitting Recruitment Requests:

a) in electronic form: until the 15th of September
b) in paper form: until the 20th of September

2. Acceptable limits on seats for Courses, by Special:
2.1. Instrumental studies – total 20 places.

a) piano: 6 places
b) violin: 8 places
c) cello: 6 places

2.2. Conducting- 6 places
2.3. Chamber music – 6 places
3. Fees:
3.1. The recruitment fee in 2019/2020 is 50 (in words: fifty) euros.
3.2. The annual fees for the course in 2019/2020 are:

1) 2500 (in words: two and a half thousand ) euro – in reference to instrumental classes;
2) 2000 (in words: two thousand) euro – in reference to conducting classes;
3) 1000 (in words: one thousand) euro – for classes in chamber music (individual fee for each member of a chamber ensemble)

1) Imogen Cooper – piano
2) Joseph Swensen – conducting

5) Maria Kliegel – cello

5. .Number of classes assigned to a given teacher:
5.1. Imogen Cooper – piano:

  • number of classes in the school year : 9 (in words: nine),
  • three separate weeks in the school year,
  • each week students will be entitled to three classes of 1.5 hours,
  • each week of classes will end with a concert of students appointed by the pedagogue.

5.2. Joseph Swensen – conducting:

  • two days of classes, three times a school year (six classes in total),
  • within two days, the student will be entitled to two classes of 1.5 hours,
  • one of the two classes will be intended for rehearsal with a small orchestra.

5.3. Andrej Bielow – violin:

  • number of classes in the school year : 12 (in words: twelve),
  • four separate weeks in the semester,
  • each week students will be entitled to three classes of 1.5 hours,
  • each week of classes will end with a concert of students appointed by the pedagogue.

5.4. Valentin Erben – chamber music:

  • number of classes in the school year : 12 (in words: twelve),
  • four separate weeks in the semester,
  • each week the team will be entitled to three classes of 1.5 hours,
  • each week will be ended with a concert of students appointed by the pedagogue.

5.5. Maria Kliegel – cello:

  • number of classes in the school year : 12 (in words: twelve),
  • four separate weeks in the semester,
  • each week students will be entitled to three classes of 1.5 hours,
  • each week will be ended with a concert of students appointed by the pedagogue.

6. Recording programe for recruitment:

 

  • Violin class:
    1. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – first movement (exposition only) chosen by candidate concerto
    2. Niccolo Paganini or Henryk Wieniawski – one Capriccio selected by candidate
    3. Johann Sebastian Bach: any movement from violin repertoire solo or first movement from the romantic violin repertoire (exposition only).

     

  • Piano class:
    Two contrasted works:
    – expression (lyrical and virtuoso)
    – by the time period those works were created
    (for instance: baroque + romantic, classical + contemporary, post Bela Bartok).
    Please remember one of those pieces should be lyrical and other virtuosic.
  • Chamber music class:
    Two works chosen from contrasted periods – for instance:
    baroque + romantic, classical + piece from the 20./21. Century or mixture of these periods.
    Proposed work will be graded based on the difficulty of the piece.
  • Conducting for All – instrumentalists and conductors:
    1. Performance of:

    –  Johann Sebastian Bach: any work (movement) from solo repertoire or with other  accompanying instrument, or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – any concerto, one movement only.

    1. Performance of:

    – one movement from a romantic or contemporary work.

    1. Non obligatory:

    – five minutes video presenting applicant conducting

        Applying instrumentalists do not need conducting experience.

  • Cello class:
    – free choice for repertoire;
    – mixture of slow and fast movements ( sonatas, concertos or pieces) from representative repertoire;
    – the repertoire should all be played by memory for this video:
    – Johann Sebastian Bach pieces are not required.
